Alpha Psi Chapter of Sigma Iota Epsilon
​

Sigma Iota ​Epsilon (ΣΙΕ) was established on Indiana University's campus in the Spring of 2019. SIE is a National Honorary and Professional Management Fraternity and the only professional fraternity in the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.

 

Sigma Iota Epsilon exists to develop and equip students with skills and knowledge to excel in their careers. To accomplish this SIE has brought in speakers with vast knowledge and experience within HR and management fields, attended events such as the student SHRM conference, and is continually working to provide the best opportunities for its' members. 

 

The stated goals of Sigma Iota Epsilon are:

  • To stimulate interest and achievement in the field of management

  • To stimulate scholarship in management

  • To facilitate contacts between students and practicing managers

  • To recognize persons who have made contributions to the field of management

  • To gain recognition of the contribution and value of scholastic achievement in the management discipline

  • To promote scholarship

Our Executive Board
Cheryl Hughes, Faculty Advisor 

Cheryl is a Senior Lecturer at Indiana University. She has extensive Human Resource experience in the private and public sector. Which includes manufacturing, service, public relations, and education fields. Cheryl uses her experience and knowledge to assist students in any capacity she can, which includes, internships, jobs, and connections for their careers. Outside of the classroom she loves her family, dogs, and Bloomington, Indiana. 

Charles Nagy, Director of Marketing 

Charles is a Senior majoring in Human Resource Management and will graduate Spring 2020. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in a human resource related field or aviation, as a pilot. Outside of academics he loves athletics and to travel. Charles recently returned from spending the summer in Europe working with refugees, through sports and teaching English. 

Jacob Hendershot, Co - Director

Jacob is a Senior majoring in Nonprofit Management at IU. Outside of academics, he is involved with Camp Kesem, a nonprofit organization that puts on a week-long summer camp for kids whose parents are affected by cancer. He is also an intern at Bradford Woods, a nonprofit summer camp owned by IU. After graduating, Jacob hopes to pursue a career in Fund Development for a youth nonprofit organization. In his free time, Jacob loves being outdoors and hiking, rock climbing, and camping. 

Shelby Meredith, President

Shelby is a Senior majoring in Human Resource Management. In the Spring of 2020 she plans to move to Nashville, TN to pursue an internship in the entertainment industry. Shelby's hobbies include traveling, spending time with family and friends, running, and extracurricular activities. Shelby spent the past summer studying abroad in Europe with two O'Neill classes. Shelby will graduate in the Spring of 2020.

Hailey Carman, Director of Administration

Hailey is a Senior majoring in Human Resource Management, minoring in Public Management, and in Counseling. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a career in a human resource related field. Some of her most memorable moments at IU was organizing and designing the university’s entire New Student Orientation program for over 30,000 people and also studying abroad in Peru.

Ariel Huang, Director of Diversity & Inclusion 

Ariel is a senior majoring in Human Resource Management and minoring in Business & Tourism. Coming from an international background, she has a strong passion for Diversity & Inclusion. Her passion for exploring diversity in a different social environment led her to visit more than 15 countries. Last summer, she interned with Cummins as a Line HR intern in Charleston, South Carolina.

Kami Owens, Vice President

Kami is a Junior Studying Human Resource Management and minoring in Business. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in an HR related field. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys being the Stewardship chair on the Corporate Relations Committee for Indiana University’s Dance Marathon Organization. Spending time with family is a favorite hobby of Kami’s, and she enjoys supporting her little siblings. Kami just finished her third summer being 

Garrett Conway, Director of  Recruitment

Garrett Conway is a junior studying law and public policy with a minor in public management. He plans on going to law school and working in the public sector with underrepresented communities. Garrett is passionate about creating inclusive spaces where all voices can be heard, connecting with leaders from all communities, and finding the best coffee wherever he may be. On the weekend you'll find him hammocking in a park or at a local farmers market. 

Ashley Hamrick, Director of Finance

Ashley is from Decatur, Indiana and is a Senior majoring in Management with a Minor in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management. She transferred to IU her sophomore year from Chicago State University where she was a collegiate soccer player. She recently was an intern for Hilton at the Palmer House Hilton Chicago in Food & Beverage Operations this past Summer. After graduation, she plans to potentially take part in Hilton’s Manager in Development Program, focusing in Sales. Outside of being a student, she is coaching soccer for Bloomington Cutters, playing intramural futsal and soccer, and waitressing part-time at Texas Roadhouse.

Connor Randol, Co - Director

Connor is a Senior majoring in Human Resource Management, with a double minor in Healthcare Management and Policy, and Nonprofit Management and Leadership. On campus, he works as both the HR Intern for the Office of Admissions and  as a intern for IU Corps in the Provosts Office. He is also involved as the Recruitment Director for the Hoosier Scholar Ambassadors, and is a member of the Human Resource Association. He spent this past summer interning at Kohl's Corporate in Milwaukee, WI, rotating as an hr intern between the Talent Development department and the HR Communications team. After graduation in the Spring of 2020, Connor plans to pursue â€‹a career in HR with an organization that values lifelong learning and creative innovation.
